We turned the legal half of Paybacker into an API

Cited UK statute, draft letter, escalation path — one POST. The API is live now. Free 1,000-call pilot for UK fintechs, insurers, and platforms — get a key in your inbox in seconds.

Glowing legal scale merging with a JSON code bracket on a dark navy background — Paybacker UK Consumer Rights API hero image

Paybacker has spent a year teaching an AI to cite UK consumer law without hallucinating. We do it by pinning the model to a curated legal_references table — Consumer Rights Act 2015, Consumer Credit Act 1974, EU/UK261, Ofcom General Conditions, Ofgem Standard Licence Conditions, Sale of Goods 1979, Limitation Act 1980. The LLM cannot cite anything that is not in the table. That single design choice is the difference between a demo and a product you can put in a regulated CX flow.

Other UK companies kept asking us how the citation engine works — and whether they could use it. So we exposed it.

The API is live now. No waitlist. Get a free 1,000-call pilot key — in your inbox in seconds — or subscribe to a paid tier and start integrating today.

What you get

One endpoint: POST https://paybacker.co.uk/api/v1/disputes. Send a scenario:

{ "scenario": "Ryanair cancelled my flight LGW-DUB six hours before departure...", "amount": 350 }

Get back, in 2–4 seconds:

  • statute — the primary regulation (e.g. Regulation (EC) No 261/2004)
  • entitlement — summary, rationale, additional rights, estimated success
  • draft_letter_excerpt — first 1,200 chars of a formal complaint
  • escalation_path — ordered next steps (carrier → CAA → ADR → small claims)
  • legal_references — every act / article cited, no fabrication
  • confidence — 0–1, how strongly the engine matched

Same shape for a Section 75 chargeback, a back-billing energy dispute, and a broadband speed claim. Parse one schema, not many.

Who it is for

  • CX leaders at UK fintechs, insurers, energy retailers — cut handle time on disputes by surfacing the cited statute and draft response inside agent UI.
  • Product teams shipping consumer-facing AI — stop hand-rolling a UK-law prompt that cites repealed acts.
  • Claims platforms and ombudsman-adjacent tools — embed the entitlement narrative in your portal.
