The gap between a bill and getting help.

Paybacker exists because suppliers have been getting away with it for years. The overcharges are individually too small to hire professional help for, and collectively too big to ignore. We built the bridge.

A note from the founder

I got sick of being ripped off.

Every year the same thing. Broadband goes up £8 a month without warning. The gym charges me for three months after I cancelled. An energy bill arrives that doesn’t match a single reading I’ve ever given them. A parking ticket I didn’t deserve. A flight cancelled with no refund offered until I make noise.

Every single one, I’d sit on hold for 45 minutes, get handed round four call-centre agents, and be told “that’s just how it works.” It’s notjust how it works. Half the time what they were doing was flat-out against UK consumer law. But the only way to actually fight back was to pay a solicitor £250 an hour to write a letter that might recover £47.

So the system quietly runs on that maths. Companies know most people won’t bother. They know taking formal action costs more than the overcharge. They know you’ll sigh, tick the direct debit, and let them have it. And that adds up to over a grand a year for a typical household — silently siphoned off by people banking on you being too tired, too busy, and too polite to push back.

I was done with it. AI can now read the Consumer Rights Act faster than any paralegal, cite the exact statute, and draft a letter that makes a supplier take you seriously in 30 seconds. The expensive part of fighting back — the reading and the writing — just got cheap. So I built Paybacker to pass that power back to people like me, who were tired of being the ones paying for everyone else’s convenience.
